So by May-June (this is still ’22) I’ve had a comprehensive vision of this game:
- player board with two version of tiles
- ideas and sketches about the figures/boards/player elements
- a rough idea how all the factions work and look
- other sketchy gameplay rules, like moving, gathering/producing resources, battling, round structure;
all noted into an online spreadsheet, a 3d and a 2d CAD file. (Oh my, we only reached May here, and based on the current state, I came to the conclusion that I haven’t thought enough about the game during and after the summer…)
I wanted to get it in order. The problem is with this, that at this state, the game grew too big to quickly review, to be perspicuous or easily readable. A reason is that a lot of the rules weren’t exact or decided, rather just those wishes and visions gathered together and loosely herded into one wide direction. So a bit of a mess. Often, more complex board games are hard to learn as a whole, now imagine that, you don’t only have to learn the rules, but a couple versions of the (often contradictory) rules, navigate in those and also preferably decide on them. So not easy – at least for me.
So again, here things could get a bit messy – even more – as the online spreadsheet (the mother sheet, the HOMELAND) is not something that I could just read back in chronological order. So I decided to rather document the current stage, section by section. Don’t worry (Dear Reader), it won’t take long, and won’t smell like an old warehouse… We will keep things clean and interesting (at least as interesting as the previous posts, hehe).

…aand here, we will take a break. So my original posts, that I wrote beforehand (who knows when actually, but at least two years ago from the posting of this current one) are ending here. I was planning to do this OVERVIEW series in three parts, with the main points like this:
Zeroth – game accessories: TILES, PLAYERBOARD, FACTION PIECES
First, about the general concepts: START/END/GOALS, TURNS/ROUNDS, ACTIONS/ORDERS/PASSIVES, RESOURCES, TERRAIN/TILES, MOVEMENT, FIGHT

ZARELID-VOM and SYNERGY
But after returning (and returning again, and again) to this journal, I’ve changed course and we won’t discover the then-current state of this wonderful creation, rather… well you will see in the next post haha.
