Continuing this physical copy path: I’ve started to design the figures for the factions. This is not something I could write much about, I did take my tablet and pen, took some references and just started to sketch, trash that I didn’t like and going forward with what I do. After I’ve got the rough shapes, I went to CAD and drew them as clean vector graphics, and exported them for laser, cnc whatever will they use. The end. Shortest post ever, now let me show you this in the proper presentation mode:
This process did take some time of course; in mid September I’d asked for a quote from the advised manufacturers with roughly half of the figures, then at the end of November I’ve sent out the final (or at least 1.0) version for cutting. But the producing took some really unexpected turns, so I’m hoping right now, that we reach the end of this bumpy road very very fast (like in a week – I’m writing this at 2023 February 16, for the record*).
While the figures were taking shape, I also regularly put them into the 3D table, to check the overall picture:
*And publishing more than a year after – with 3d printed figures.
Note to the end: this “figure cutting from 8-10mm plywood” is apparently an unachivable task – for a reasonable price. I’ve tried CNC, laser, watercutting, or the classic “just use whatever you want, however you want, cut it from smaller pieces, or whatever, just make them” method, and the prices were always one scale bigger, than I’ve wanted to.
